The following terms and conditions are provided, so that you (the Client) and I (Elsie Editing Services) understand our individual responsibilities when entering into a business relationship.
You agree that by engaging Elsie Editing Services to provide services to you, you accept the terms and conditions set out below:
General Overview
- These terms and conditions apply to any work Elsie Editing Services undertakes for the Client.
- The work will be carried out unsupervised at such times and places as determined by Elsie Editing Services, using equipment owned by Elsie Editing Services.
- Elsie Editing Services will provide services as mutually agreed by both parties and confirmed in writing by the Client.
- Prior to commencement of work, the Client and Elsie Editing Services will agree, in writing, to the terms of the contract including:
- The medium used to complete the work (e.g. Word, PDF or paper).
- The choice of annotation (e.g. Track Changes, Sticky Notes, traditional mark-up).
- The length of time required for Elsie Editing Services to complete the work.
- The fee payable, as determined by a prior estimate, a quote, or an amount previously agreed upon by both parties.
- Any additional expenses the Client is likely to incur on top of the fee (e.g. postage).
- The date by which Elsie Editing Services will receive the material from the Client.
- The latest date Elsie Editing Services will return the completed work to the Client.
- If, in the early stages of editing, it becomes apparent that significantly more work is required than originally anticipated in initial communications with the Client or from the sample supplied, Elsie Editing Services reserves the right to re-negotiate the terms of the contract.
- If additional material or requests for service are made after the work has commenced, Elsie Editing Services may deem the terms of the contract to have been breached and may approach the Client to re-negotiate the contract.
Pricing and Payment
- Elsie Editing Services will supply an estimate for services based on a sample of the work and the deadline for completion. Quotes are available only when the full document has been submitted for assessment.
- The Client will pay Elsie Editing Services a fee per hour OR per word, OR an agreed flat fee for the job.
- All charges are inclusive of any taxes payable by Elsie Editing Services.
- Elsie Editing Services is not G.S.T. registered.
- Unless otherwise agreed, full payment will be made by Clients based in New Zealand within 7 days of receipt of the invoice from Elsie Editing Services.
- An invoice for immediate payment will be sent to Clients not based in New Zealand, and full payment will be made before they receive the edited copy. The Client shall make all payments to Elsie Editing Services in the equivalent of NZ dollars.
- Overdue accounts will attract interest accrued at 5% per month, after 60 days outstanding.
- The Client shall be liable for any additional expenses or legal costs incurred by Elsie Editing Services when pursuing payment of arrears.
- Elsie Editing Services accepts payment via cash, cheque, bank transfer, or through the PayPal secure payment portal on her website.
- If payment is made through the PayPal secure payment portal, 5% will be added to the amount of the invoice to cover PayPal’s fee for credit card services.
Privacy Policy
- Elsie Editing respects client privacy and will not collect or retain information unless it is provided voluntarily for the purposes of emailing updates about specific services, special privileges and other items of interest. The information will not be shared with others without the Client’s prior consent.
- Personal details are required when a client engages our services. Once the work has been completed, Elsie Editing Services will keep on record only such information as is necessary for continued contact, unless otherwise stipulated by the Client.
Satisfaction Policy
- Elsie Editing Service will work with the Client to ensure satisfaction and all work will be returned as a draft, subject to amendments by the Client. The work will deem to be completed only when the Client accepts and signs off the final draft.
- Complete satisfaction is important to this business. Elsie Editing Services aims to provide top-quality service to ensure a long term business relationship and doesn’t consider the job finished until the Client is 100% satisfied. If, for a valid reason, the Client is not happy with the finished result, then Elsie Editing Services will refund the cost of the invoice.
Liability
- All due care will be taken by Elsie Editing Services to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of work, however, final responsibility does rest with the client.
- To the extent permitted by the laws of New Zealand, Elsie Editing Services accepts no liability on any grounds for consequential damages or losses arising from any cause, including omission or negligence.
Copyright
- All content delivered to Elsie Editing Services by the Client for processing remains the property of the Client.
- Unless otherwise agreed, the ownership of any content created by Elsie Editing Services in the course of providing services for the Client will become the property of said client once payment in full has been received.
Applicable Laws
- All work is governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the Courts of New Zealand shall have the sole and exclusive jurisdiction to hear and determine all disputes in connection with claims arising from work produced by Elsie Editing Services.
